A saline solution consisting of 0.9% sodium chloride helps supply the body with fluids lost due to illness, surgery, or other medical conditions and prevents dehydration.
This solution can be used to dilute intravenous medications, as well as to clean and sterilize wounds to prevent the transmission of infections and bacteria.
Sodium chloride solution is also used to maintain blood pressure in emergency situations and during surgeries and to flush catheters to prevent clots.
