Sumatriptan

Sumatriptan is constriction of cranial blood vessels and inhibits the release of pro-inflammatory neuropeptides. Sumatriptan decreases carotid arterial blood flow, but increases blood flow velocity in the internal carotid artery and middle cerebral artery.

Indications:
• Acute relief of migraine attacks, with or without aura.
• Imigran should only be used where there is a clear diagnosis of migraine.

Active Ingredient:
Sumatriptan.

Side effects:
• Increases in blood pressure.
• Flushing.

Cautions:
• Uncontrolled high blood pressure.

Interactions:
• Almotriptan.
• Bromocriptine.
• Cabergoline.
• Dihydroergotamine.
• Eletriptan.
• Ergoloid mesylates.
• Ergonovine.

How to use:
• Single 50mg tablet.
• Some patients may require 100mg.It should not be used prophylactically.
